Hi, I’m Alyssa

and I love to tell stories.

I guess I could credit my parents for my passion. When I was a little girl and misbehaved, consequences came in the form of essay writing: what I did, why I did it, what I’d do differently next time.

Over the years, writing morphed from a consequence into a profession. I began by covering social justice at a local Atlanta newspaper and telling the stories of people who didn’t have platforms to voice their narratives. After attending graduate school, I set my sights on national publications and worked at Fortune, SmartMoney Magazine and The Wall Street Journal, including a stint as a foreign correspondent in Beijing. I’ve also written for The New York Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire.

As the media landscape evolved, I found I could take my skills and apply them in the corporate world by telling the stories of companies and their clients. Today, my clients range from small startups that are just starting to find their voice and brand to large multinational corporations wanting to level up their content game. With each project, it’s exciting to dive deep to understand what story someone wants to tell, from what angle, and what type of impact they’re hoping for.

I’m fueled by curiosity, coffee and my two daughters, who keep me on my toes and remind me that there’s wonder – and a story – in even the smallest of moments.

P.S. Here’s my Wall Street Journal author page.
